Holidays are the best time of the year spent with family, friends, and lots of dessert! Here is the next best summer dessert you need to bring to the family outing, your family and friends will love it!
Ingredients needed for this cake:
1 angel food cake, cut into cubes
3.4 ounce box instant vanilla pudding mix
2 cups cold milk
8 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature
8 ounces Cool Whip or Whipped Topping
2 pints blueberries, rinsed
2 pints strawberries, rinsed and sliced
First buy the cake you want to use. You can either buy a cake already made from the bakery or buy a boxed cake mix to make like I did below. I've made two different versions of this recipe, one using a chocolate cake and one using a white cake like below. They are both delicious!
If you decide to make your own cake, follow the instructions provided on the box. If you buy a cake, skip to the next step.
Once your cake is done baking, set it aside to cool and start making the filling recipe.
For the filling, combine the vanilla pudding mix with the milk and whisk for two minutes. Set aside.
Then, you will need one container of whipped topping (I chose the lite kind) and one 8 ounce package of cream cheese (not pictured). In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese on medium speed until smooth and creamy, 2 to 3 minutes or until thoroughly smooth.
Add the prepared pudding to the cream cheese mixture and gently fold and stir until completely combined. Add the whipped topping to the bowl and fold it into the mixture until no white streaks remain.
Cut your strawberries into smaller pieces (however small/big you want them) to have them ready for layering.
Once the cake has cooled, cut into 1 inch cube sized pieces for layering. Put your first layer of cake pieces in the pan and start drizzling the pudding mixture over the cake. Put a mixture of blueberries and strawberries over the first later.
Then put another layer of cake and pudding mixture, and arrange the remaining strawberries and blueberries in the decorative pattern on the top of your cake. Serve immediately or cover and refrigerate until ready to serve. This is best served within 24 hours of making it, but leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
